TWO THINGS YOU MUST DO IMMEDIATELY YOU DECIDE TO BUY A LAND OR HOUSE
There are two (2) major things you must do immediately you decide to buy a land or house. You are not to do them yourself. Get a very experienced Property and Real Estate Lawyer to handle these two things for you.
A Property and Real Estate Lawyer is in the best position to do them for you. They are:
1. Conduct a proper finding (due diligence) on any issue affecting the land or house. Some of these issues are who is the real owner of the property; the actual size of the property; whether the documents presented by the seller is genuine or have any impediments to the buyer; if the property is a subject of government acquisition;
If the property itself or the area where it is located is specially mapped out for any public, communal or official use; whether the area is officially designated for specific kinds of buildings, residence or business; etc.
2. Prepare a comprehensive document of ownership or lease (as the case may be), properly drafted and signed by a Property and Real Estate Lawyer.
These two steps must be taken by a competent Property and Business Lawyer before the payment of any money.
