Do not let beautiful environment and sweet talk lure you into buying Government acquired land.
Buying Government acquired land is like building your dream house on your enemy’s land; better imagined than experienced.
No matter how long you have stayed on the land, no matter the millions of naira you spend building on it, Government will one day come calling with bulldozers and wipe out everything without giving you one naira as compensation.
There are no notices on Government acquired land. It is never written on the land, and no agent, seller or real estate company will admit it.
The only way to know is through due diligence: deep investigation carried out by an experienced Property and Real Estate Lawyer. Anything short of this is a dangerous misadventure.
A buyer of Government acquired land will lose everything: land, buildings and investments, and the law offers no pity.
Nigerian courts have always made it clear: occupation, development or ignorance does not override Government acquisition.
So before you buy that land, ask yourself: How am I sure this land is not Government acquired? Have I gotten a trusted Property Lawyer to investigate it? How am I sure I am not walking into a property trap?
The cost of due diligence is nothing compared to the cost of losing it all.
Think smart. Do due diligence or pay dearly.
