Earlier today while I was heading out for a property transaction I needed to pick up my laptop from the Apex Chambers ICT Manager so I parked my car by the shoulder of the expansive Iwofe Road where the office is located.
Just a few metres away was a roadside mechanic with his head buried in the car engine compartment and a young lad in his early 20’s who seemed to be his apprentice. The apprentice seemed to be in a playful mood and unbothered by his boss’ mechanical engineering theatrics on the car.
He was holding a long empty can of hydraulic. Without giving it a thought he slammed the empty can on his low cut hair and cried out in pain.
It obviously hurt so bad. He appeared to be surprised that it hurt him. I let out a wry smile and pondered on the irony of it all.
He knew it was a metal object. He knew his head was shaved very low, yet he choose to hit himself hard on the head with the metal. And worse still he was shocked that he experienced the pain.
Sometimes we visit hurt upon ourselves and are shocked that we feel pain. We make obviously very bad decisions and put ourselves in harm’s way and shudder at the consequences.
We create a storm and lament about the devastating effects of this same storm.
Let us learn to soberly consider the likely outcomes of our actions and inactions and act right. Same applies to legal matters. Try not to harm your property or business interest.
