DON’T LEASE A PROPERTY WITHOUT YOUR PROPERTY LAWYER
Yesterday a client in Australia reached out to Apex Chambers, top ranking Property/Real Estate and Business/Commercial Lawyers, Barristers, Solicitors, Attorneys and Notary Public in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, through WhatsApp.
He had a Restaurant and he needed to lease for his company a land in Port Harcourt. He needed us to help him negotiate the terms of the lease and draft and prepare a comprehensive Lease Agreement (Deed of Lease) between him and the Landlord.
It is ideal that while embarking on a business or property venture, you engage a very experienced Property and Business Lawyer to get involved in the negotiations and the preparation of the relevant legal documents and Contracts/Agreements.
When seeking to lease a property/land/building, it is not advisable for your Landlord to engage a Lawyer to prepare a lease agreement.
We scheduled a meeting with the Landlord and negotiated the terms of the lease, prepared the written Lease Agreement and concluded the transaction.
Ensure you get your own Lawyer to prepare your Lease or other property Agreement. This is because if you rely on the Landlord’s Lawyer to prepare it, chances are that you will end up having a Lease Agreement that is tailored to favour the Landlord. But your own Property Lawyer will include terms that protect your interest.
If you need legal help with any property transaction or matter, call, email or Whatsapp Apex Chambers from anywhere in the world.
