The documents looked convincing. So the buyer paid.

When buying land or house, your first concern should not be “how much is it?”

It should be “who actually owns it, and can I safely buy it?”

So you need a Property and Real Estate Lawyer.

Before you pay for land/building, your Lawyer should investigate it, verify the seller’s ownership, scrutinize the documents, conduct searches, check the survey plan and location, investigate Government interest, claims, Court cases, mortgages and other issues, and prepare the right purchase documents.

Do not wait until you have paid before calling a Lawyer. At that point, the Lawyer may be trying to save a transaction that should never have happened.

If you live abroad, do not rely just on an agent, relative, photographs or videos sent from Nigeria.

Get a Property Lawyer to investigate the property on your behalf before you pay.
